Dear students,
My sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner with more details about the AcquaSummer programme. I have a number of updates for you, as follows:
1. ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM
Many of you have provided me with the feedback that you have not received your Stage Two ID/password to complete the online application. Please rest assured that your Stage One applications have been received. The delay was due to the extended Good Friday / Easter holidays in Mexico, and you should be receiving your IDs and passwords very shortly.
2. BANK DRAFT / DOWN-PAYMENT
If you have not already purchased your bank draft (also known as demand draft) for the host family programme / residence hall down-payment, please note that the most important piece of information on the bank draft is that it is made payable to “ITESM”. Please do not worry if your bank is unable to print the details of Wells Fargo bank on the draft. I have attached a sample bank draft issued by Citibank, for your reference.
The remainder of your payment for the host family programme / residence hall will be collected from you upon your arrival in Queretaro.
3. WELCOME EMAIL
Tec de Monterrey will be sending each of you a welcome email shortly, so do watch out for it.
4. OFFICIAL ARRIVAL DAY / AIRPORT PICKUP
The official arrival day for AcquaSummer is on 25 May 2011 (Mexican time). You should try to book your flights to arrive on this day in either Mexico City or Queretaro. Please email my colleague, Juliana, with your confirmed flight details (i.e. flight number, day of arrival, city of arrival) and we will work with Tec for the airport pickup. Tec is also extending the airport pick-up If more than 5 of you are arriving on 24 May 2011.
Tec is unable to provide airport pick-up for students arriving outside of the official arrival day. Please let Juliana and me know if you are not arriving in Mexico on 25 May. I have also attached a document with details on how to get to Campus Queretaro from the airport in Mexico City.
5. HEALTH INSURANCE
Health/travel insurance is very important when you are residing overseas, and you are strongly encouraged to purchase sufficient coverage for your stay in Mexico. Students of Tec de Monterrey can purchase insurance from SetMex in Mexico at a 20% discount. Purchasing local insurance has the added benefit that medical expenses incurred will be covered by the local insurer, without the need for you to pay upfront and lodge a claim later. If you are interested to purchase insurance from SetMex, please visit this webpage and following the steps listed below: http://www.setmex.com/web/en/Default.html
(a) Click on the “Quote and Buy?” link at the top of the webpage;
(b) Refer to the attached screenshot and fill in the required details;
(c) For the discount code, please input “KV02L” (without the quotes);
(d) Tec de Monterrey recommends that you purchase the Silver coverage for the duration of your stay in Mexico.
Cheers!
Orion
