Acqua Summer 2011

Welcome to my blog! This blog was written by an exchange student who had been to Mexico for a short summer program. During my sojourn in Mexico, I had been studying in Tech De Mont, a prestigious, rich and well-recognized international university in Mexico. The courses that I took include basic Spanish and Introduction to the Mexican's Culture. I was a Singaporean undergraduate in National University of Singapore, NUS.

This blog is divided into different topics according to various themes and period: Arrival to Mex, Memoir's of my host family (8 parts).

Airport Arrival

Arrival to the airport
Going through immigration and customs:
When you get to the airport in Mexico City or Leon, you will first have to go through immigration. Have your passport and visa (FM-T or FM-3) readily available. (See the section of the web page on Visas.) After that, you will pick-up your luggage and go through customs.

Customs requires that you fill out a form which is normally distributed on your flight. You will have to feed this form into a machine, which will give you the green light (go ahead) or the red light (open your suitcases).
Taking a bus from the Mexico City airport:

1. It is a good idea to change money at the airport. There are a number of places you can do this just outside the customs area.

2. Coming out of the customs area, baggage carriers are available to help you with your luggage. You can't take the cart out into the airport. Once you are out with your luggage, please look for the sign “Autobuses Terrestres / Foreign Buses” follow the signs and you will arrive to the SALE TICKETS

3. Look for the "AeroPlus" line and Querétaro in the ticket window and tell them "Quiero un boleto para Queretaro." The ticket should cost around $260 pesos. You should tip the baggage carrier 20 pesos or so or about $2 US.

4. The bus to Queretaro will arrive at the airport 15-20 minutes prior to the announced departure for Queretaro. Give your luggage to the man who puts it in the luggage compartment. He will give you a ticket for each piece of luggage. The person who takes your ticket will give you a sandwich and a Coke. The trip will be 3 hours long.

The schedule of the buses departing from the Mexico City airport to the Queretaro bus station is found at this web page: http://www.flecha-amarilla.com
It is impossible to guess how long it will take to go through immigration and customs at the Mexico City airport, but calculate about one hour from arrival time to bus time.

When you arrive in México, if you have an emergency, question or doubt, you can call –anytime- to the Coordinator of Foreign Students, her phone number is:
